وَلَقَدۡ أَتَوۡاْ عَلَى ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ ٱلَّتِيٓ أُمۡطِرَتۡ مَطَرَ ٱلسَّوۡءِۚ أَفَلَمۡ يَكُونُواْ يَرَوۡنَهَاۚ بَلۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ نُشُورٗا [٤٠]
彼らは確かに、忌まわしい雨を降らされた町を訪れた[1]。一体、彼らはそれを（熟慮して）見ていなかったのか？いや、彼らは復活を望んではいなかった[2]のだ。
