وَٱلطُّورِ ﴿١﴾
By the mount
Waalttoori
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai,
By oath of (mount) Tur.
By the Mount
By the mount.
By the Mount;
By the Mount.
By the Mount,
By the Mount,
By the Mount [Sinai],
By the Mount
By the Mount (Sinai),
I swear by the Mountain,
By the Mount Sinai,
By the Mount (of Revelation);
وَكِتَٰبٍۢ مَّسْطُورٍۢ ﴿٢﴾
And [by] a Book inscribed
Wakitabin mastoorin
And the Scripture inscribed
And by oath of a passage, written –
and a Book inscribed
By the book inscribed.
And by the Book Inscribed.
And a Book inscribed.
and the Book inscribed
And a Scripture inscribed
by the Book inscribed
and by the Book in lines
by the book (Torah) written
And the Book written
and by the Scripture penned
By a Decree inscribed
فِى رَقٍّۢ مَّنشُورٍۢ ﴿٣﴾
In parchment spread open
Fee raqqin manshoorin
On a parchment scroll unrolled,
On an open record.
in a parchment unrolled,
In parchment unrolled.
In parchment unrolled.
In a published scroll.
on fine parchment;
On fine parchment unrolled,
on an unrolled parchment;
in an exposed parchment
on parchment for distribution,
In an outstretched fine parchment,
on unrolled parchment,
In a Scroll unfolded;
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ ﴿٤﴾
And [by] the frequented House
Waalbayti almaAAmoori
The house ever-peopled,
And by oath of the Inhabited House.
by the House inhabited
By the House Frequented.
And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels);
And the frequented House.
by the much-frequented House,
And the House frequented,
by the House greatly frequented;
by the Visited House,
by the established House (Mecca),
And the House (Kaaba) that is visited,
by the much-visited House,
By the much-frequented Fane;
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ ﴿٥﴾
And [by] the heaven raised high
Waalssaqfi almarfooAAi
The roof raised high,
And the lofty roof.
and the roof uplifted
By the roof elevated.
And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven).
And the elevated roof.
by the elevated canopy;
And the roof exalted,
by the vault raised high,
and the uplifted roof
by the high ceiling (heaven),
And the elevated canopy
and by the lofty vault of the sky,
By the Canopy Raised High;
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ ﴿٦﴾
And [by] the sea filled [with fire],
Waalbahri almasjoori
And the swollen sea,
And the sea set aflame.
and the sea swarming,
By the sea overflowing.
And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection).
And the seething sea.
and by the swelling sea:
And the sea kept filled,
by the surging sea:
and the sea that is full
and by the swelling ocean,
And the swollen sea
and by the swelling sea,
And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ ﴿٧﴾
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
Inna AAathaba rabbika lawaqiAAun
The punishment of your Lord is certain to come.
Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place.
surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall;
Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls
Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass,
The punishment of your Lord is coming.
verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass,
Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass;
indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely befall.
surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come,
the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place
Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass;
the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass,
Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍۢ ﴿٨﴾
Of it there is no preventer.
Ma lahu min dafiAAin
There is none who could avert it.
No one can avert it.
there is none to avert it.
Of it there is no averter.
There is none that can avert it;
There is nothing to avert it.
none can avert that.
There is none that can ward it off.
There is none who can avert it.
there is none to prevent it.
and no one will be able to prevent it.
There shall be none to avert it;
there is no one who could avert it,
There is none can avert it;-
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًۭا ﴿٩﴾
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
Yawma tamooru alssamao mawran
The day the sky will tremble,
A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking.
Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily
On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking.
On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking,
On the Day when the heaven sways in agitation.
(It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion,
On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving,
On the day when the sky whirls violently,
Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily
On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly
On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side
on the Day when the skies are convulsed,
On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion.
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًۭا ﴿١٠﴾
And the mountains will pass on, departing -
Wataseeru aljibalu sayran
The mountains move and fly away,
And the mountains will move with a visible movement.
and the mountains are in motion,
And the mountains will move away with an awful movement.
And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.
And the mountains go into motion.
and the mountains shall violently fly about.
And the mountains move away with (awful) movement,
and the mountains move with an awful motion:
and the mountains move, moving.
and the mountains quickly move.
And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether).
and the mountains shudder and shake.
And the mountains will fly hither and thither.
فَوَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١١﴾
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
Fawaylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena
Will be the day of woe for those
So on that day, ruin is for those who deny.
woe that day unto those that cry lies,
Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers
Then woe that Day to the beliers;
Woe on that Day to the deniers.
Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message)
Then woe that day unto the deniers
woe to the deniers on that day
On that Day woe to those who belied
Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth
So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth),
Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth,
Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;-
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍۢ يَلْعَبُونَ ﴿١٢﴾
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
Allatheena hum fee khawdin yalAAaboona
Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries.
Those who are playing in pursuits.
such as play at plunging,
Those who in wading sport themselves.
Who are playing in falsehood.
Those who play with speculation.
and amuse themselves with vain argumentation.
Who play in talk of grave matters;
—those who play around in vain talk,
those who are in plunging, playing.
and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations).
Those who sport entering into vain discourses.
who divert themselves with idle chatter:
That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ﴿١٣﴾
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
Yawma yudaAAAAoona ila nari jahannama daAAAAan
The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell,
A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell.
the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna:
On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push.
The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.
The Day when they are shoved into the Fire of Hell forcefully.
On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told):
The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell
the day when they will be shoved forcibly toward the fire of hell, [and told:]
On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell),
On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire
The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence.
on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell.
That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿١٤﴾
\"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
Hathihi alnnaru allatee kuntum biha tukaththiboona
(And told:) \"This is the fire which you denied.
“This is the fire, which you used to deny!”
'This is the fire that you cried lies to!
This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe.
This is the Fire which you used to belie.
“This is the Fire which you used to deny.
“This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.”
(And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny.
‘This is the Fire which you used to deny!
(it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied!
and they will be told, \"This is the fire which you called a lie.
This is the fire which you used to give the lie to.
This is the fire which you used to deny.
\"This:, it will be said, \"Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny!
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿١٥﴾
Then is this magic, or do you not see?
Afasihrun hatha am antum la tubsiroona
Is it magic, or you cannot see?
“So is this magic, or are you unable to see?”
What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see?
Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly!
Is this magic, or do you not see?
Is this magic, or do you not see?
Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see?
Is this magic, or do ye not see?
Is this, then, [also] magic, or is it you who do not perceive?
Is this magic, or is it that you do you not see?
Is it magic or do you not still see?
Is it magic then or do you not see?
Is this magic or do you not see?
\"Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see?
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٦﴾
[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do.\"
Islawha faisbiroo aw la tasbiroo sawaon AAalaykum innama tujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloona
Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done.\"
“Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.”
Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.'
Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal Unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working.
Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do.
Burn in it. Whether you are patient, or impatient, it is the same for you. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.”
Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.”
Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do.
Enter it, and it will be the same for you whether you are patient or impatient. You are only being requited for what you used to do.’
Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do'
Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds\".
Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did.
Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done.
\"Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds.\"
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَعِيمٍۢ ﴿١٧﴾
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,
Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaAAeemin
Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss,
Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace.
Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss,
Verily the God-fearing will bein Gardens and Delight.
Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight.
But the righteous will be amid gardens and bliss.
Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss,
Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight,
Indeed the Godwary will be amid gardens and bliss,
But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss,
The pious will live in bountiful Paradise,
Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss
Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss,
As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,-
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ﴿١٨﴾
Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.
Fakiheena bima atahum rabbuhum wawaqahum rabbuhum AAathaba aljaheemi
Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell.
Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire.
rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell.
Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed Unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame.
Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire.
Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has spared them the suffering of Hell.
enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire.
Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire.
rejoicing because of what their Lord has given them, and that their Lord has saved them from the punishment of hell.
rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell.
talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell.
Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire.
rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire,
Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿١٩﴾
[They will be told], \"Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do.\"
Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima kuntum taAAmaloona
\"Eat and drink with relish,\" (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done.\"
“Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.”
'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working.
Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working.
\"Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do.\"
Eat and drink happily, for what you used to do.
(They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.”
(And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do,
[They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [as a reward] for what you used to do.’
(It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did'
They will be told, \"Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done\".
Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did,
\"Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds,\"
(To them will be said:) \"Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds.\"
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍۢ ﴿٢٠﴾
They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
Muttakieena AAala sururin masfoofatin wazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeenin
They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye.
Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes.
Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris.
Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed.
They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes.
Relaxing on luxurious furnishings; and We will couple them with gorgeous spouses.
The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes.
Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes.
They will be reclining on arrayed couches, and We will wed them to big-eyed houris.
(They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes.
They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes.
Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones.
reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes.
They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌۭ ﴿٢١﴾
And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
Waallatheena amanoo waittabaAAathum thurriyyatuhum bieemanin alhaqna bihim thurriyyatahum wama alatnahum min AAamalihim min shayin kullu imriin bima kasaba raheenun
And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does.
And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds.
And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned.
And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish Unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge.
And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.
Those who believed and their offspring followed them in faith—We will unite them with their offspring, and We will not deprive them of any of their works. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.
We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did.
And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned.
The faithful and their descendants who followed them in faith—We will make their descendants join them, and We will not stint anything from [the reward of] their deeds. Every person is hostage to what he has earned.
Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned.
The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions.
And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought.
To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned.
And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.
وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍۢ وَلَحْمٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿٢٢﴾
And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.
Waamdadnahum bifakihatin walahmin mimma yashtahoona
We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire.
And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire.
And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire
And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire.
And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire.
And We will supply them with fruit, and meat; such as they desire.
We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire.
And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire.
We will provide them with fruits and meat, such as they desire.
We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire.
We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire.
And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire.
We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire.
And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire.
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًۭا لَّا لَغْوٌۭ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌۭ ﴿٢٣﴾
They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.
YatanazaAAoona feeha kasan la laghwun feeha wala tatheemun
They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin.
In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin.
while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin,
They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin.
There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink).
They will exchange therein a cup; wherein is neither harm, nor sin.
They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin.
There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin.
There they will pass from hand to hand a cup wherein there will be neither any vain talk nor sinful speech.
There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin,
They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another.
They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin.
There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin.
They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill.
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌۭ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ ﴿٢٤﴾
There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.
Wayatoofu AAalayhim ghilmanun lahum kaannahum luluon maknoonun
And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round.
And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden.
and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls.
And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden.
And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.
Serving them will be youths like hidden pearls.
Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them.
And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls.
They will be waited upon by their youths, as if they were guarded pearls.
and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls.
They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls.
And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls.
They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells.
Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿٢٥﴾
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona
They will ask each other questions,
And one of them turned towards the other, questioning.
They advance one upon another, asking each other questions.
And they will advance Unto each other asking questions.
And some of them draw near to others, questioning.
And they will approach one another, inquiring.
They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events).
And some of them draw near unto others, questioning,
They will turn to one another, questioning each other.
They will go to one another asking each other questions:
They will turn to one another ask questions,
And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other.
They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other,
They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry.
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ ﴿٢٦﴾
They will say, \"Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].
Qaloo inna kunna qablu fee ahlina mushfiqeena
Saying: \"We were also once full of fear at home.
Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.”
They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear,
They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread.
Saying: \"Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah).
They will say, “Before this, we were fearful for our families.
They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure).
Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious;
They will say, ‘Indeed, aforetime, we used to be apprehensive about our families.
'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful,
saying, \"We were afraid while in the world.
Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families:
\"Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure --
They will say: \"Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ ﴿٢٧﴾
So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.
Famanna Allahu AAalayna wawaqana AAathaba alssamoomi
But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind.
“So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.”
and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind;
Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch.
\"But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire.
But God blessed us, and spared us the agony of the Fiery Winds.
Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind.
But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire.
But Allah showed us favour and He saved us from the punishment of the [infernal] miasma.
but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind.
But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment.
But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind:
God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat --
\"But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind.
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿٢٨﴾
Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful.\"
Inna kunna min qablu nadAAoohu innahu huwa albarru alrraheemu
We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful.
“Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.”
we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.'
Verily we were wont to pray Unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful.'
\"Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful.\"
Before this, we used to pray to Him. He is the Good, the Compassionate.”
Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.”
Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful.
We used to supplicate Him aforetime. Indeed He is the All-benign, the All-merciful.’
Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful'
We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful\".
Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful.
before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.\"
\"Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!\"
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍۢ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ ﴿٢٩﴾
So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
Fathakkir fama anta biniAAmati rabbika bikahin wala majnoonin
Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed.
Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), enlighten, for by the munificence of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman.
Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed.
Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
Therefore, remind and preach (mankind, O Muhammad SAW of Islamic Monotheism). By the Grace of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.
So remind. By the grace of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.
So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman.
Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman.
So admonish. By your Lord’s blessing, you are not a soothsayer, nor mad.
Therefore, remind. By the Favor of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor mad.
(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person.
Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman.
Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman.
Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed.
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌۭ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ ﴿٣٠﴾
Or do they say [of you], \"A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?\"
Am yaqooloona shaAAirun natarabbasu bihi rayba almanooni
Do they say: \"He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?\"
Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.”
Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'?
Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune!
Or do they say: \"(Muhammad SAW is) a poet! We await for him some calamity by time!
Or do they say, “A poet—we await for him a calamity of time”?
Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.”
Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time?
Do they say, ‘[He is] a poet, for whom we await a fatal accident’?
Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him'
Do they say, \"He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?\"
Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time.
If they say, \"He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him,\"
Or do they say:- \"A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!\"
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ ﴿٣١﴾
Say, \"Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters.\"
Qul tarabbasoo fainnee maAAakum mina almutarabbiseena
Tell them: \"Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you.\"
Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.”
Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.'
Say thou: waits verily I am, with you, among the waiters.
Say (O Muhammad SAW to them): \"Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!\"
Say, “Go on waiting; I will be waiting with you.”
Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.”
Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant.
Say, ‘Wait! I too am waiting along with you.’
Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you'
Say, \"Wait, I too am waiting with you\".
Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait.
say [to them], \"Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!\" --
Say thou: \"Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!\"
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌۭ طَاغُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾
Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?
Am tamuruhum ahlamuhum bihatha am hum qawmun taghoona
Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious?
Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people?
Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people?
Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious?
Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief).
Or is it that their dreams compel them to this? Or are they aggressive people?
Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?”
Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk?
Is it their intellect which prompts them to [say] this, or are they a rebellious lot?
Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people?
Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people?
Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people?
is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people?
Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾
Or do they say, \"He has made it up\"? Rather, they do not believe.
Am yaqooloona taqawwalahu bal la yuminoona
Or do they say: \"He has fabricated it?\" In fact, they will never believe.
What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith.
Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe.
Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe.
Or do they say: \"He (Muhammad SAW) has forged it (this Quran)?\" Nay! They believe not!
Or do they say, “He made it up”? Rather, they do not believe.
Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing.
Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe!
Do they say, ‘He has improvised it [himself]?’ Rather, they have no faith!
Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe.
Do they say, \"He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?\" In fact, they themselves have no faith.
Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe.
Or do they say, \"He has invented it himself\"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe.
Or do they say, \"He fabricated the (Message)\"? Nay, they have no faith!
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ ﴿٣٤﴾
Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.
Falyatoo bihadeethin mithlihi in kanoo sadiqeena
So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful
So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful.
Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly.
Let them bring a discourse like thereUnto, if they say sooth.
Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful.
So let them produce a discourse like it, if they are truthful.
(If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour.
Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful.
Let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful.
Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true!
Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim.
Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful.
Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true.
Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾
Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?
Am khuliqoo min ghayri shayin am humu alkhaliqoona
Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators?
Have they not been created from some source, or are they themselves the creators?
Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators?
Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators?
Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators?
Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators?
Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators?
Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators?
Were they created from nothing? Or are they [their own] creators?
Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators?
Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators?
Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators?
Were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators?
Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators?
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
Am khalaqoo alssamawati waalarda bal la yooqinoona
Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather they are not certain.
Or did they create the heavens and earth? Nay, but they have not sure faith.
Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they are not certain.
Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing!
Did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they have no certainty!
Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain!
Have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no strong faith.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty.
Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith.
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾
Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?
Am AAindahum khazainu rabbika am humu almusaytiroona
Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers?
Or do they have the treasures of your Lord, or are they the authority?
Or are thy Lord's treasuries in their keeping? Or are they the registrars?
Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers?
Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like?
Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or are they the controllers?
Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them?
Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)?
Do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or do they control [them]?
Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers?
Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God?
Or have they the treasures of your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority?
Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them?
Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)?
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌۭ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍ ﴿٣٨﴾
Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority.
Am lahum sullamun yastamiAAoona feehi falyati mustamiAAuhum bisultanin mubeenin
Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof.
Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof!
Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority.
Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest.
Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof.
Or do they have a stairway by means of which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear proof.
Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it.
Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest!
Do they have a ladder [leading up to heaven] whereby they eavesdrop? If so, let their eavesdropper produce a manifest authority.
Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority.
Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority?
Or have they the means by which they listen? Then let their listener bring a clear authority.
Have they a ladder up to heaven by means of which they can overhear? Then let their listeners bring a clear proof.
Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof.
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾
Or has He daughters while you have sons?
Am lahu albanatu walakumu albanoona
Has (God) daughters and they sons?
What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you?
Or has He daughters, and they sons?
Hath He daughters and ye sons?
Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons?
Or for Him the daughters, and for you the sons?
Or does Allah have daughters whereas you have sons?
Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons?
Does He have daughters while you have sons?
Or, has He daughters, and they sons?
Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you?
Or has He daughters while you have sons?
Does God have daughters while you have sons?
Or has He only daughters and ye have sons?
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona
Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense?
Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty?
Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt?
Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden?
Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt?
Or do you demand a payment from them, and they are burdened by debt?
Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt?
Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt?
Do you ask them for a reward, so that they are [wary of] being weighed down with debt?
Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt?
Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford?
Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt?
Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt?
Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ﴿٤١﴾
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona
Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down?
Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements?
Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down?
Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down!
Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down?
Or do they know the future, and they are writing it down?
Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down?
Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down?
Do they have [access to] the Unseen, which they write down?
Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down?
Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)?
Or have they the unseen so that they write (it) down?
Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down?
Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down?
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًۭا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.
Am yureedoona kaydan faallatheena kafaroo humu almakeedoona
Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked.
Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers.
Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted.
Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against.
Or do they intend a plot (against you O Muhammad SAW)? But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) are themselves in a plot!
Or are they planning a conspiracy? The conspiracy will befall the disbelievers.
Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers.
Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared!
Do they seek to outmaneuver [Allah]? But it is the faithless who are the outmaneuvered ones!
Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted.
Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots.
Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war.
Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot.
Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾
Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
Am lahum ilahun ghayru Allahi subhana Allahi AAamma yushrikoona
Or do they have a god apart from God? He is too exalted for what they associate with Him!
Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him.
Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate!
Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate!
Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him)
Or do they have a god besides God? God transcends what they associate.
Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity).
Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!
Do they have any god other than Allah? Clear is Allah of any partners that they may ascribe [to Him]!
Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate!
Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols.
Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him).
Or have they a god other than God? Exalted be God over what they ascribe as partners [to Him]!
Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him!
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًۭا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌۭ مَّرْكُومٌۭ ﴿٤٤﴾
And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, \"[It is merely] clouds heaped up.\"
Wain yaraw kisfan mina alssamai saqitan yaqooloo sahabun markoomun
If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: \"It is only a massive cloud.\"
And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.”
Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!'
And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up.
And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: \"Clouds gathered in heaps!\"
Even if they were to see lumps of the sky falling down, they would say, “A mass of clouds.”
(So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.”
And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds.
Were they to see a fragment falling from the sky, they would say, ‘A cumulous cloud.’
Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud'
Even if they were to see a part of the heavens falling down upon them, they would say, \"It is only dense cloud\".
And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds.
If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, \"A mass of clouds,\"
Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: \"Clouds gathered in heaps!\"
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ ﴿٤٥﴾
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -
Fatharhum hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee feehi yusAAaqoona
So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned.
Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned.
Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck,
Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon.
So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror).
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be stunned.
So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down,
Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken,
So leave them until they encounter the day when they will be thunderstruck,
So leave them till they encounter their Day in which they shall be thunderstruck.
So leave them alone until they face the day when they will be struck dead from terror
Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror):
so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb,
So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),-
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾
The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.
Yawma la yughnee AAanhum kayduhum shayan wala hum yunsaroona
Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped.
A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped.
the day when their guile shall avail them naught, and they shall not be helped.
A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured.
The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell).
The Day when their ploys will avail them nothing; and they will not be helped.
when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured.
A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped.
the day when their guile will not avail them in any way, nor will they be helped.
The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped.
and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped.
The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped.
the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour.
The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.
Wainna lillatheena thalamoo AAathaban doona thalika walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona
Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know.
And indeed for the unjust is another punishment before this, but most of them do not know. (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.)
And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not.
And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not.
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 36].
For those who do wrong, there is a punishment besides that; but most of them do not know.
Surely a chastisement awaits the wrong-doers even before the coming of that Day; but most of them do not know.
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not.
Indeed there is a punishment besides that for those who do wrong, but most of them do not know.
For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.
The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know.
And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know.
Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it.
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not.
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ ﴿٤٨﴾
And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.
Waisbir lihukmi rabbika fainnaka biaAAyunina wasabbih bihamdi rabbika heena taqoomu
Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise,
And be patient upon your Lord’s command, (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), for you are indeed in Our sight; and proclaim the Purity of your Lord while praising Him, whenever you stand.
And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest,
And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest.
So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep.
So patiently await the decision of your Lord, for you are before Our Eyes; and proclaim the praises of your Lord when you arise.
Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise,
So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest,
So submit patiently to the judgement of your Lord, for indeed you fare before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise [at dawn],
And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise,
Wait patiently for the command of your Lord. We are watching over you. Glorify your Lord when you rise during the night
And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise;
So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep].
Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth,
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ ﴿٤٩﴾
And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.
Wamina allayli fasabbihhu waidbara alnnujoomi
And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane.
And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back.
and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars.
And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars.
And in the night time, also glorify His Praises, and at the setting of the stars.
And glorify Him during the night, and at the receding of the stars.
and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars.
And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars.
and also glorify Him during the night and at the receding of the stars.
and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars.
and glorify Him after the setting of the stars.
And in the night, give Him glory too, and at the setting of the stars.
Extol His glory at night, and at the setting of the stars.
And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars!
