Assamese, or Asamia, is an Eastern Indo-Aryan language predominantly spoken by the residents of Assam in Northeast India. It is the official language of Assam and is also spoken by some inhabitants in parts of Arunachal Pradesh and other northeastern Indian states. The Nagamese language is a creole derived from Assamese, widely used in England and parts of Assam. A small number of Assamese speakers also reside in Bhutan.
