Surah Competition [At-Takathur] in English

Surah Competition [At-Takathur] Ayah 8 Location Makkah Number 102

أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ﴿1﴾

Competition for worldly gains distracts you [from Allah],

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ﴿2﴾

until you come to your graves.

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿3﴾

No indeed! You will come to know.

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿4﴾

Again no! You will come to know.

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿5﴾

No indeed! If only you knew for certain[1].

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ ﴿6﴾

You will surely see the Blazing Fire,

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿7﴾

Again, you will see it with absolute certainty.

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿8﴾

Then on that Day you will surely be asked about your worldly pleasures[2].
