Surah The Flame [Al-Masadd] Ayah 5 Location Makkah Number 111

تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ ﴿1﴾

May the hands of Abu Lahab[1] perish, and may he perish!

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ﴿2﴾

Neither his wealth nor his worldly gains will avail him.

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ ﴿3﴾

He will burn in a Flaming Fire,

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ ﴿4﴾

and so will his wife[2], the carrier of firewood,

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ ﴿5﴾

around her neck will be a rope of palm fiber[3].
